I just finished my TruthMedia Mentor emails and it is the most amazing feeling to help another soul that is hurting. I mentored teens from all over the globe from Australia to Oregon, USA and other countries. I am so grateful for the power of the internet in times like these. It feels good to help others and I encourage you to find a way to help others. Think about what you care about. Is it animals or animal rights, is it the elderly in the nursing homes, the homeless, etc. Find charities in your hometown and work with one that you believe in. Get involved and take action. After becoming a QPR Certified Gatekeeper I then established a non profit organization, Live Out Loud Charity, focused on suicide awareness and prevention. You too can make a difference in your community and it starts with you. If you ever need direction feel free to email me sherriegearheart@yahoo.com

Action Magazine
I want to make something clear.... to all of the young ladies and women competing in pageantry. Let me break one misconception: You do NOT need a title to make a difference in your community or in our world. All you need is a plan, a heart, and some dedication. A pageant title can open many doors but you can open other doors with out it.
Exciting news! I am now a columnist for Action Mag and I will be featured in Action Mag's spring issue. Once it comes out YOU KNOW I am sharing it with YOU!!! xoxo so excited!!

Things we want to say.....
Does your heart ever move you and you just know you need to express your gratitude toward someone or your love or your emotion? But it seems that these moments are fleeting and in our busy lives we get lost in the hustle and bustle of daily activity... and we forget to tell our loved one or our friend what we felt. I challenge you this week to express yourself. Say what you mean and mean what you say! This week is about saying those emotions because one day we won't have that chance.

TruthMedia Mentor
I couldn't be more gracious now that I am officially a mentor for TruthMedia. This means I will have the chance to come along side and mentor individuals in need from around the world while sharing faith and the word of God. I remember filling out the application a little over 6 months ago and wondering if there were going to accept me into the program. I was accepted 4 months later and started training. I have now completed training. The feeling it gives me is very much similar to the feeling I received once I became a QPR Certified Gatekeeper. I feel it is my calling to help those in need. As a TruthMedia mentor I will be working specifically with Teens. This will be a lifelong journey of learning and growth. I look forward to helping those in need. I couldn't be happier.

I won 9-11-2010
I won the title of American Image National Miss 2010 tonight on 9-11. I thank God and I thank our troops for fighting for our freedom. The American Image Pageant supports our troops and showcases women of all ages that are of integrity and accomplished. I am truly honored to be the national titleholder. I simply cried when they called my name. I was in disbelief. I also won the overall Supermodel award which meant I had the highest fashion wear score of the entire competition. I was so thrilled.
I have an entire year planned of amazing appearances from traveling statewide to internationally. I promise I will try to write about every appearance because I feel blogging will truly raise awareness of other charitable organizations and the American Image Pageant.
I have so many people on my journey to thank....
Jojo- You were an instrumental part in this entire process. When we hit a crossroads you helped me choose the deciding factor. I thank you from my heart.
Theresa- Every step of the way we have been there. We have climbed together and faced defeat. And together we have won. I love you.
Mom- The best proofreader I know. My paperwork was flawless because of you. Also the spiritual road you lead me is beyond what words can describe.
Alan- My poster was so beautiful I couldn't have asked for anything better. You are the best. Thank you for sponsoring me.
Sheavie- Your designs are perfect and after 1 million revisions later you still had a smile on your face. Thank you for believing in me. You're the best.
Justin- This trip would have been boring without you... and it wouldn't have even happened. You made this happen and come true for me.
Jason- The training I received from you has given me life long tools and values that I will keep until the day I die. I will share these with my children and those around me. Your training really embodied what the American Image Pageant is all about.... the American Spirit.
Dog-n-Scrubs- During tough times you still believed in me and sponsored my dream. It came true because of you. Thank you from my heart.
Cory King- My makeup was the best it has ever looked. You created a flawless look for me.... You are so talented... Thank you!
Trent- You really helped take my mind off of my nerves and put me in such a happy good mood the entire weekend. :)
To everyone who has touched me on my journey.... I truly love you. It takes a team to accomplish great things. I would be nothing without you. I am everything with you. Together we can make a difference.
Thank you to God. You lead me here... you guided me.... you taught me. I am a better person today because of this.
Erica- the director, It is a tough job being a director and I can't express my gratitude enough for putting on such a fair and fun pageant. I look forward to serving as your 2010 national queen.
I will write more.... until then I have to get some sleep. I have my morning breakfast with the queens and the director. We sign the contracts and more!!!
Love you all---
Your American Image National Miss 2010,
Sherrie Gearheart
P.S.
To my grandma and my grandpa. You may not have been here in physical form but you are here with me in spirit. Your values shaped me into the person I am today. I love you both and you will always live in my heart. I love you.

My life.....
I am so glad to finally be back here on blogspot and to post on all the wonderful events that have transpired in just the last month alone. I jumped some hurdles and I can actually say I am quite proud that... yes I came out alive LOL.
In the last month I...
*Published Tiara Magazine
*the following week I ended my summer semester of college with good grades
*the following week I celebrated my HUGE fashion show for the LOLC
*and today I am happy to say I made it through Fashion Week as the Director in Libertyville for Improv Playhouse with great praise. :)
*And in between all of this I made time for filming the Tiara Talk Show and making other special appearances as Miss Glen Ellyn as well as mentoring those in times of need. Below I will share highlights of each accomplishment.
But first some thanks.....
Now I am turning my efforts inward to get ready for the Miss Illinois Competition. Special thanks to Jojo Sayson, Dr Tom, Alan P, Ashley Hatfield, Jason Browning, Toni Hasset, Theresa Robles, and the many others who have been instrumental on my road to success. And always thank you to God for keeping me grounded and steady as I forge forward trying to make a difference. I have to say I have been extremely blessed and I am grateful for these blessings. Without God's help I would not have been able to accomplish all that I have. And these accomplishments could not have been possible without the help of so many others who have and still believe in me and my mission. Thank you....
Now highlights :)
MENTORING
I receive at least 3-4 texts, fb messages, chat messages, emails, or phone calls every week from people who know someone that is depressed and want to know exactly what to do. I am grateful the message is getting out there and people are asking me for help. Theresa is a friend of mine who has her own salon. Therefore I mentor a lot of her clients on health and also suicide prevention. This isn't the first time Theresa has sent someone my way and I am thankful for the opportunities. Together we have had major success stories. This time I received a text from one of Theresa's clients that her little sister is cutting and she doesnt know what to do. I had her call me and used my QPR training as I do in all of these cases to mentor her and lead her in the right direction. She had no idea how to approach her sister or how to help her. The alarming truth is that most people don't know what to do when someone is depressed or cutting or even when there is a substance abuse. In this case her sister was 15 years old and she expressed in their Indian culture cutting just doesn't happen. I explained to her that cutting is a serious sign of depression and needs to be taken seriously. I explained some of the signs of depression and she started to recall things she hadn't before. For instance her sister has been wearing long sleeves even during the summer for the past year and she never shows her arms. She also recalls how her sister usually doesn't smile. And when she found the marks on her arm her sister mumbled things like its just I can't handle school and this won't happen again. The truth is that most people don't know the signs and symptoms of depression. With depression and substance abuse being the 2 causes of suicide we must know what to look for and I shared my training with her. I will be following up next week.
FASHION SHOW for LOLC
I worked tirelessly the past few months to make this event happen and we had over 350 attendees!!! Thank you to my team members that assisted me with this incredible show. Electrify Your Future 2010 Fashion Show was a success because of you! I was able to share the Live Out Loud Charity Seminar with the audience and the models looked FABULOUS walking down the runway. I was also booked for other speaking engagements due to this event. We had great reviews and everyone can't wait for the next one. The crowd oooood and ahhhhhhd for the little girls and boy we had in the show and for Kathy who is 70 years of age. In the Tiara Magazine fashion shows we have all ages, sizes, ethnicities, and heights walking the runway. We had two mandatory rehearsals and I shared the LOLC seminar with all of our staff and models so they are equipped with the knowledge to save lives. It turns out many of the models themselves suffer from low self esteem and even depression. It is the greatest feeling in the world to help these women become more confident and just happy. Kathy expressed that her dream of walking the runway finally came true. For many that night it was their dream come true as well. I love orchestrating these shows. I did this for Ryan. I miss him and this is the least I can do. We celebrate life at LOLC and I ask that you join us. http://www.liveoutloudcharity.org/

FASHION WEEK
Two day's later I traveld to Antioch, IL to stay closer to my week long job. I was hired as Director of Fashion Week in Libertyville, IL for Improv Playhouse. I was given free reign on what I wanted to teach to the girls. I used this opportunity to mentor the girls and we covered several things including self esteem, walking the runway, health, fitness, beauty, and more. We truly bonded. I had 8 students and their ages were 10-13. It was a fabulous age range and I really miss the girls. It's only been 1 day!!! All week we worked hard to make our Fashion Showcase a success. Front stage we created walks and speeches but the day of the show I worked back stage to help the girls stay calm and focused before they went on stage. It was so cute to watch them and I can't express how proud I was when every single girl performed her speech and runway walk perfectly. All of our hardwork paid off!! They all want to return next year and the owner of Improv Playhouse, David, has mentioned us doing this again perhaps every quarter. When I receive pics from our final showcase I will post them here. At the end we said a big thank you to Improv Playhouse and we had a hugging session on stage! lol it was so cute :)
FILMING TIARA TALK SHOW
The past few weeks I have been fortunate enough to film Mrs. International 2010, Miss International 2009, Teen International 2009, Miss International 2010, and Teen International 2010. I have a great relationship with Denise from their PR firm. This organization is classy and professional. I really enjoyed watching the Mrs. International finals. I couldn't watch the Miss & Teen finals due to the Electrify Your Future 2010 Fashion Show. I purposely had the originial date set to July 31st but I had to change the date to comply with the venue. It all worked out in the end :) The International system is a platform based pageant the really emphasizes hard work and integrity. The interviews will appear on http://www.tiaratalkshow.com/ I was fortunate to meet the brains behind the International system. The director is beautiful and she was in fact a Mrs International in the 90's. I hope to make it to the International stage one day!

A moment to reflect....
I needed to take this moment to reflect on all the good things that happened today.
1) I was featurued on the GivesMeHope website which receives over one million views per month. They saw my fb status and posted it on their site. This is what my status said:
"I am now a QPR Certified Gatekeeper. This is one of the most nostalgic days of my life yet at the same time gives me hope for a brighter future. I did this for Ryan and now I truly believe that I can help save lives."
I clearly remember writing this status. I had tears coming down my eyes while I was going through training and after when I received my certification. Being a QPR Certified Gatekeeper is one of the most important aspects in my life as I use my training during my seminars, speaking with my Live Out Loud Charity Staff, and in every day life. I can not begin to tell you how many people call, email, or text me about someone who needs help or how they overcame their depression and commend me for what I am doing. I thank God for leading me in the right direction. Ryan you will be missed forever.
2. I met with some of my LOLC staff today for our upcoming fashion show. Being told that I touch lives and how awesome I am... is quiet remarkable. It's almost like I'm listening to them as if I am someone else.... like this can't be me! LOL I am blown away, and honored to be in a position as a leader. And the number one thing I have to say is that MY MODELS, STAFF, VOLUNTEERS, and FRIENDS, inspire ME. And I thank all of you.
3. I received a letter today from the National Association of Professional Women that I was approved for my 2010 membership. I never applied for this and after looking at their website I found this association amazing beyond belief. I am honored to be a part of the National Association of Professional Women. To consider myself at their level at my young age is overwhelming. I have so much to learn from them.
Once again thank you for reading... until next time... take care & love you all!

Best Day of My Life
I can't even begin to tell you how gracious I am and how blown away I am by the positive response I received from people today. Ok here is what happened:
Last night I find out from a fan of mine by the name of Carey, that there is a link out there featuring me as one of the Editor's you should follow. I was so blown away that these people chose me and 9 other awesome editor's as their favorites. They also highlighted my Dare to Dream Fashion Show and Launch Party that took place in December last year. Then this morning I woke up to tackle the day head on. I had appointments, scheduling, etc. And in the midst of everything I was notified that I was selected as a True Titleholder and they featured me with a full page on their website. I couldn't believe this and still can't! I am honored. So then I put this on Facebook and everyone was congratulating me with either wall posts or fb messages. Thank you so much everyone! You truly keep me going and inspired. NEXT (yes there is more!!) I found out that I was awarded Favorite Editor by the FFF Editor's Association!! I COULD NOT BELIEVE THIS! They did a full article on me! My mom was so proud that she posted it on her facebook. I havn't even notified everyone on my page yet ;)
Lastly but certainly not least there are 2 more things. I submitted an application for the SIFJ Society of Independent Fashion Journalists for both myself and Tiara Magazine. Guess what?!? Both applications were approved and we are now members. I am so proud and just over flowing with Joy. Last but not least I came across a website for an online mentorship program that ties faith into mentorship. I filled out my application and I await their response. Yes this is one of my big things to celebrate because I really hope I get selected as a mentor. It would be a dream come true because I would be helping more people. How awesome is that!! As always my loves, thank you for reading my blog. God Bless.

Yes this is one of my big things to celebrate because I really hope I get selected as a mentor. It would be a dream come true because I would be helping more people. How awesome is that!! As always my loves, thank you for reading my blog. God Bless.

Pretty Princess Tea Party with Miss Illinios, Miss Teen Illinois, and Mrs Illinois
Today I attended the Pretty Princess Tea Party held as the Indian Lakes Resort. I originally met Jennifer Naida after inviting her to Tirage Studio's Grand Opening in April. I was delighted when she invited me to this event. I was able to meet Miss Illinois International Ashley Newman and Miss Teen Illinois International Sarah Bertrand. They were both lovely and all four of us had a great time. I linked each title holders name to their personal website so you can read about each one's platform. It is incredible how us titleholders work so hard for the causes we believe in. Aside from discussing the International competition and the state competition (which I compete in this August for the title of Miss Illinois) we also spoke to all the little princesses attending the event. Below are some of the images I had taken with my camera. Later Ashley Newman's father is going to send us some pics from his awesome camera.

Glen Ellyn Farmer's Market
I thought it would be fun to check out the Glen Ellyn Farmer's Market. Everyone there was really nice. I thought it was so neat when I met a woman who told me about the company she works for in Ohio. Below are images and information on the company:
"The world’s largest basket lies in the land of Ohio, USA. This mega basketcase is the headquarters of Longaberger, a famous basket company.
This is truly an impressive work of architecture with its seven stories and unique basket features. The inner atrium includes a soaring glass ceiling, through which you can see the basket handles on top of the roof.
Just imagine how busy this basket would be during peak tourist season!"

Wouldn't it be fun to work for a company that looks like this!!!
Supplies 4 Success is an organization that support. I am a member of the Glen Ellyn Fashion Show Committee and we are having our annual Fashion Show on November 7th at the Abbington Banquets. Last year a portion of the proceeds raised went to Supplies 4 Success. We are supporting this organization again. I have another blog post explaining all the facts regarding this much needed organization. Here is an image explaining what we need:

Dogs-N-Scrubs Ribbon Cutting & Grand Opening
I love the owners of Dogs-N-Scrubs and I also love the concept behind the store. It is a self serve dog wash and the food they offer is high quality and/or organic. I was pleased when Dogs-N-Scrubs asked me to make an appearance at their Grand Opening. I love supporting the local businesses of Glen Ellyn.

Miss Winthrop Harbor Pageant
Miss Winthrop Harbor Pageant
I cheered on Rhiannon, Spoke about the Live Out Loud Charity, and introduced myself on stage as Miss Glen Ellyn along with other visiting Royalty. After the pageant we drove around in a stretch limo and went to StoneCreek Restaurant to celebrate. View more photos of this exciting event at www.SherrieGearheart.com under my title.
Meeting Miss America 2010 Caressa Cameron
Last week I met with Miss America 2010 Caressa Cameron. She is so beautiful in person. My hairstylist, Theresa Robles, was with me and we had a blast.
I ran into some of the girls I competed with last year when I was Miss Northern Suburbs 2010. It was great seeing so many familiar faces. They couldn't get over my new pics and my new do. I had to do something different this year. I had to be different. :) Below from Left to Right is Sherrie Gearheart Miss Glen Ellyn, Jen Carr Miss Chatham Glenwood, Erin O'Conner Miss Illinois MAO, Ruthi Brooks Miss Champaign-Urbana.
Last week was a whirlwind for me.I am going to place some of the photos from this appearance into Tiara Magazine!

Supplies for Success
I made an appearance at the Glen Ellyn Farmer's Market. Images coming soon from Tirage Studio. After making my way around to the different vendors I turned around and was so happy to see the Supplies for Success banner. I introduced myself to the two women who spear head this project and have made it a big success. I told them that I am part of the Glen Ellyn Fashion Show Committee and we are holding our Fashion Show November 7th, 2010 to help raise funding for their charity. They expressed how pleased they were last year because the show raised over $1,000 to clothe the children in need with winter coats. They hope to do the same thing with the money raised this year. I will post more information later including our fashion show flyer, my photo with the Supplies for Success banner, as well as facts regarding their organization. I am extremely proud to be part of the Glen Ellyn Fashion Show Committee to bring back more life to our downtown area and to help children in need from our community. Below are some facts regarding the Supplies 4 Success organization.

What a night! Taste of Glen Ellyn
Wow I had so much fun connecting with the people of my town as they all gathered around at the Taste of Glen Ellyn. I always love seeing the familiar faces of the Chamber of Commerce. Big thanks to the owner of Doggonits and his beautiful wife Miss South Wales of 1954 for giving me a Taste of Glen Ellyn T-shirt. Tonight I actually ran out of autograph cards. I was bombarded by so many teens, preteens, and children. I loved it! Some of them would just look up at me with curiosity and I would have to stoop down to their level to open them up and explain who I am. Just because you have crown doesn't mean people will just flock to you. You have to connect with them on a personal level. Each of them were sooo excited to read the personalized messages I wrote on their autographed cards. One asked for a "special" message. I explained to him that every message I write is special just like each and every single one of them truly is unique. I am a woman of intuition which is what I rely on when I write to each one :) Below are some images.
I was referred to tonight as the "pretty lady" the "nice lady" and the "beautiful girls" signing autograph cards. YES girls as in plural. LOL. I had two different cards so the boys and girls who didn't meet me yet thought there were two of us... or me lol. I think my favorite was the little old man that actually came back to get his picture with me :) I have to MAIL him a copy ;) HOW CUTE!! Below is a picture of us!
Before the massive autograph signings I made my way around the different booths learning about businesses and even connecting with individuals on a personal level. The lady from the Chicago Tribune really touched my heart as we discussed my platform on a personal level. She is an inspiration. See images below!
I learn just as much from others as they do from me. I bought my boyfriend some Happy Feet because he works so hard and drove 5 hours today to take pictures of me at the event.... he is sooo sick. Of course I had to try on the happy feet first LOL but I bought them for him not me :)
I also had the fun of breaking some sterotypical ideas of what beauty queens are. Luckily there were only 2 women that gave me "smart" remarks. I expelled their preconcieved notions, not with flattery, rather, by showing them who I really am and what I am about: a woman with a mission. Not a bubble head, not a "beauty" queen, rather a woman that gets things done, manages a team of over 65 individuals, and a president of a non profit organization. I am always kind in my pursuit of standing up for us pageant girls but I am also real. :) After speaking with the booth attendees I started saying hellos and signing autograph cards. What I have noticed as a title holder is you have to really be daring and bold. Yes the crown will cause looks of curiousity. However the single most important thing is the actual connection. I walked around and stopped crowds of teens and children and was able to open them up. Of course I told them to add me on facebook and I was so delighted when I had 5 facebook requests the moment of left the taste tonight :) One of the other cutest hightlights of the night was when the 14 year old girls asked me to show them my walk. Image below.
So I did.... and then I told them they had to in return. After some confidence boosting and laughs they were struting the runway... or the pavement LOL... HOW FUN! Connecting with teens is so important. This is when they need us most. I have tons of pictures from the last two days. Today was the Taste of Glen Ellyn and an appearance at Whistles and Bells Snackery of Glen Ellyn. The owner is wonderful and put my picture in her window right away which I thought was nice. Images below inside the snackery & with the wonderful owner. There is also an image of me signing autograph cards while inside her store.
